Once Upon a Time: My Family is the new production by Emilio Aragón. A show that, according to Emilio himself, is a way to “thank so many people for the immense respect and affection I’ve always received for being part of a family of artists like mine. A grateful gift for the audience, for my father and my uncles, for all the women in my family who today are embodied by Mónica, and for everyone who continues to honor the craft of the stage.”
Grandma Eva is going to celebrate her birthday with her grandchildren, until a weather warning prevents them from attending. She is preparing to pack everything in her attic when, suddenly, a box comes to life and all her childhood memories appear: a small carousel, a music box, her toys, a Cinexin, an old television where she used to watch her favorite shows. Suddenly, the television turns on and the Los Payasos de la Tele program appears. To the question “How are you all?”, Eva, our grandmother, answers what we all have in our heads. The attic begins to transform until, in a magical space, Gaby materializes in the flesh. Gaby and her troupe of crazy clowns will accompany Eva on a journey through a world of memories and dreams, in a theatrical and musical show that not only pays homage to Los Payasos de la Tele (The Clowns of Television), but also pays homage to the clown genre and to a time that shaped the childhood of a generation of children growing up in the 1970s and 1980s.
